18th Century Synagogue from Grodno province

Odelsk is a town in the province of Grodno (White Russia).

The synagogue was built in the second half of the 18th c. and burnt by the Germans during the Second World War. Its dimensions:
13 X 8.5 m height: 8 m.

Its simple structure was somewhat like a granary. The women's section was in the gallery at the west. The men's synagogue was on a lower level than the entrance room and was covered with a barrel vault.

The beautiful wood paneling with fish and bone pattern granted the synagogue a special grace. The carved Ark of the Law in the style of the Baroque was famous for its beauty.
