Wilkowishki
Lithuania
18th Century Synagogue from western Lithuania
Wilkowishki is a small town in the west part of Lithuania near what was once Eastern Prussia.
The wooden synagogue was built in the second half of the 18th century.
It went through renovations the years 1830 and 1910 and as a result, the beautiful structures in the front were dismantled and exchanged with simple wooden building.
It survived until 1939 and was burnt, like most of the synagogues in Lithuania, by Lithuanians.
